Welding Technique of Five Kinds of Welding Machines

2024-07-11

Welding Technique of Aluminum Welding

  1. The most suitable welding gun for aluminum materials is the wire drawing welding gun. If you are unable to use this type of welding gun, try to use the shortest welding gun to keep it straight; Only argon gas can be used as a protective gas; When welding aluminum materials, only the push gun technique can be used.
  2. If you find any wire feeding issues, you can try a conductive head that is one size larger than the welding wire.
  3. The most commonly used welding wire for aluminum welding is a softer standard welding wire. The other type is harder (easier to feed wire) and is mainly used in welding operations that require higher hardness and strength.
  4. Before welding begins, it is necessary to remove the oxide layer on the surface of the aluminum material and use a dedicated stainless steel brush to remove the oxide layer.

    5. At the end of welding, fill the arc crater to prevent cracks. One solution is to leave the welding gun in the molten pool for a few seconds after welding.

Welding Technique of Self protective Flux-cored Wire Welding

  1. Use the pull (or drag) gun technique during welding.
  2. Keep the welding wire clean and dry to achieve the best welding effect.
  3. This type of welding is similar to electrode welding, as the slag layer on the surface of the weld seam must be cleaned after welding is completed. When cleaning slag, a slag hammer and a steel wire brush can be used.
  4. Self protective flux cored wire welding does not require an additional protective gas container. (The protective agent is inside the welding wire). This feature makes it very suitable for outdoor work, as the protective gas is easily blown away when used outdoors.
  5. Self protective flux cored wire welding is more difficult than MIG welding when welding thin plates.

Welding Technique of GTAW

    01. very suitable for thin plate welding - a clean welding process can achieve a beautiful welding appearance.

  1. When welding steel and aluminum, use argon gas as the shielding gas.
  2. Use DC positive polarity (DCEN) to weld steel and stainless steel, and use AC welding for aluminum.
  3. The push gun technique has been consistently used in TIG welding.
  4. Match the size of the tungsten electrode with the size of the socket nozzle.
  5. Welding aluminum materials - pure tungsten electrodes should be used. This allows tungsten to easily form spherical tips during AC welding.
  6. Welding steel and stainless steel - tungsten electrodes containing 2% thorium should be used. During DC positive electrode welding, the tungsten electrode should be sharpened.

Welding Technique of Welding Rod Arc Welding

  1. Most of the time, the drag gun technique is used.
  2. Be prepared to prevent welding slag splashing.
  3. Keep the welding rods clean and dry - follow the manufacturer's recommendations.
  4. Penetration: Negative polarity DC - maximum penetration, AC - moderate penetration (may also have more splashing), positive polarity DC - minimum penetration.

Welding Technique of Resistance Welding

  1. Resistance welding is not suitable for welding aluminum, copper, or copper alloys. And only used for welding steel and stainless steel.
  2. To obtain greater heat (current output), shorter electrode arms should be used.
  3. If it is a welding machine without heat control function, the length of the electrode arm should be used for control. For example, when welding thin plates that require low heat, longer electrode arms are used.
  4. Be aware that longer electrode arms may bend and you may also lose the pressure applied to the weld seam.
  5. Ensure that there are no gaps between the welded workpieces, otherwise the welding effect will be greatly affected.
  6. Keep the two electrode arms aligned so that the electrodes are aligned with each other. Also, keep adjusting the appropriate pressure, not too much or too little.
  7. If you need one side of the workpiece to have a good appearance after welding, you can grind (machine) the electrode side.
  8. Clean the electrodes regularly, otherwise the output (current) will decrease. Suitable protective covers should also be worn on the electrodes.
